Higher Education - Age of Entry
In the last post, I prepared the Higher Education Scorecards. I was able to migrate CSV files to the MySQL database, then prepared datasets for analysis. I think I could do many things with this dataset. For instance, I added Census income data to test my hypothesis.
For now, I found an interesting movement in what age groups enrolled among vocational schools to universities. I can relate to this graph very well. I went to a typical four-year university after graduating from high school. As you can see, many high school graduates enrolled in traditional colleges and universities.
Furthermore, my timeline relates well to the vocational school section. I received my Culinary Arts Certification back in 2015. However, the school closed down due to changes to federal regulations (which was a good thing, in my opinion). That reduced access to vocational schools in the US. As you can see, the density decreased significantly by 2017.
Another obvious observation is the increase in the density of younger students enrolled in community colleges. Many vocational schools were gone by 2017, but the federal, state and local governments increased funding for community colleges.
